Tips and Resources to Help You Attract and Retain Your Employees

The majority of our workforce today consists of hourly employees. However, it can be challenging to manage job satisfaction, encourage retention, and facilitate job advancement for our hourly employees. And these days, many employees want more than a decent wage.

That’s where benefits come in. And we’re not just talking about common staff benefits like health insurance, paid time off, and stock options. If you want to make your company stand out to new hires and boost your retention rates, then you must go the extra mile. Below, Igniting Human Potential presents some innovative ideas for how you can do just that!

Paying for Online College

If you want to attract new talent to your company, offering to pay for college is a surefire way to do it. And if you require the degree to be related to your industry, you can benefit as much as the employee.

For example, say one of your workers pursues a degree in business. This means they will learn critical skills that will help them become better leaders and managers for your company. And if the degree is in healthcare or technology and your business falls into one of those categories, the same logic applies.

Consider providing your staff with the option of online college. Along with being more cost-effective, this will give them more flexibility in their schedules, which will ultimately help them to find a healthy balance between work, family, and school.

Gym Memberships or Fitness Classes

If your employees primarily work office jobs, it can negatively impact their health and well-being. Ultimately, such sedentary demands can lead to higher healthcare costs, not to mention lower morale and productivity. To avoid these consequences, consider providing your employees with memberships to a local gym or fitness center. If you have the resources, you could even provide fitness classes on-site.

Nutrition Classes

Along with offering gym memberships and/or fitness classes, think of ways you can encourage your employees to eat nutritiously. This might involve hiring a professional nutritionist to come in periodically for company-wide classes. It might involve setting up a nutrition bar in the office cafeteria that allows employees to package healthy dinners to take home after work. Or maybe you could invest in high-quality nutrition videos to present to your staff.

Wellness Initiatives

Why not take it a step further when it comes to the health and well-being of your employees? Consider establishing a company wellness program. More and more businesses are offering such programs as they are showing to attract and retain talent. Your wellness program can be relatively simple or comprehensive.

For instance, you can offer one-time screenings or check-ups. Or you can offer regular screenings, check-ups, counseling sessions, and other activities that encourage physical, mental, and emotional health. There are plenty of programs available to employers online. So, assess your company’s unique goals and challenges to choose the right one(s) for your employees.

Flexible Schedules

Employees value a flexible schedule more than ever before. In fact, many of them expect it. As it becomes harder and harder to manage work, education, and family duties, consider how you can contribute to the lives of your team members by providing them with a schedule that helps them find a proper work-life balance.

This might include allowing your employees to work from home—either partially or full time. It might mean transitioning some of your workers to salary or being more flexible in your company’s general hours of operation. Just explore ways that you can offer flexibility to those under your leadership.

There’s no getting around the fact that employees expect more these days. If you want to run a thriving business in 2022 and beyond, you must think of innovative ways to attract and retain talent. The ideas above can definitely get you off to a strong start, but don’t stop here. Keep looking into other ideas that companies around the world are implementing to keep their team members satisfied and fulfilled.
